History & Values
Bonny Downs Community Association was set up in 1998 by members of Bonny Downs Baptist Church in in response to unmet needs in the community.
Although a separate organisation from the church, BDCA shares the christian values of the church.
Our first project was to renovate a derelict community centre “The Well” which opened in 2001 and has since grown and developed into a ‘lighthouse’ community centre as recognised by our local authority the London Borough of Newham. In 2002 we took over responsibility for a derelict nine-acre playing field in the heart of our area. Over the last 5 years Flanders Field has been turned from a jungle into a thriving sports development centre, used seven days a week. Through The Well and Flanders Field we provide excellent facilities for the community to access.
