BDCA Coronavirus Response - How You Can Help
In March, we set up an emergency hub where we are making up relief packs of food and other household essentials and, together with our teams of volunteers, delivering them to vulnerable people across Newham.
If you would like to help
Currently, the best way to support BDCA is to give online to our crowdfunding appeal to support the various services we have running through the crisis
Alternatively, if you would like to support and protect the future of BDCA’s services, please join our growing community of BDCA Buddies who give monthly to our work.
You can volunteer for us in a variety of roles such as shopper, telephone befriender, delivery driver and more
Otherwise, and always in line with the latest government advice, you can donate to our emergency hubs by purchasing non-perishable foods, large size nappies, sanitary towels, soap, bleach, Milton tablets, washing up liquid, washing powder, fresh fruit and vegetables
You can drop these off to our hub at The Well Community Centre, 49 Vicarage Lane, E6 6DQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 am – 2 pm or to one of the other charities’ hubs in the borough:
MANOR PARK HUB: 395 High Street North, E12 6PG on Tuesdays and Fridays 10 am – 2 pm
PLAISTOW HUB: Forrest House, E13 8AB, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am - 3 pm
WEST SILVERTOWN HUB: Britannia Village Hall, E16 1TU on Mondays and Thursdays 11 am - 3 pm
FOREST GATE HUB: Forest Lane Lodge, E7 9DE on Mondays and Wednesdays 10 am – 2 pm
Thank you so much for your support!
As a local charity, we really do rely on the generosity of our friends and neighbours to help us keep our services running. We have been hugely inspired by the way people are pulling together in Newham right now. Your generous donations of food, essential items and money and your words of encouragement are really helping us keep going!
At the start of the lockdown period, we partnered with The Magpie Project, The Renewal Programme, West Silvertown Foundation and Alternatives Trust to coordinate a cross-Newham response during the first few weeks of the crisis.
We are so grateful to everyone who gave to our appeal! Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and neighbours, we exceeded our target and raised over £11,000, which has been split equally between the five charities.
Each of our partner charities is continuing to do great work in helping Newham respond to the crisis and we would encourage you to find out more about their current activities on their websites and support them if you can.
