Active & Connected Elders Project
BDCA are absolutely delighted to announce that, thanks to funding from Big Lottery Fund and Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, our Elders Project has been saved from closure! Check out this video to see the exciting moment we shared the good news with our project users...
Our award-winning Elders Project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of local older people by “adding years to life and life to years”. We deliver a wide range of social groups, exercise classes, educational activities and support services which are accessed by over 400 elders each week.
This short video shows the project in action and heart-warming user testimonies:
Our current programme of activities for Over 50s includes:
In addition to these regular activities, we also offer the following services:
We organise a range of exciting outings and holidays throughout the year, for example: boat rides, visits to garden centres, seaside day trips and short breaks to the Isle of Wight and Eastbourne. We also run monthly 'Men in Mind' outings specifically for fellas over 50. Speak to Michelle about our upcoming trips.
Our experienced and compassionate Elders Advocacy Manager provides free 1-2-1 advice appointments for any local elders who are experiencing problems with issues such as: health, finance, housing, bereavement or transport related problems.
