New Day Project
In April 2014, BDCA joined together with Skills Enterprise and the NEWway Project, to launch a daytime support centre for homeless and vulnerably housed adults in Newham. This year, we also partnered with the Council and Salvation Army to extend the service to a week-round 5 day service helping people move forward out of crisis, increase their resilience and successfully transition into their new life away from the streets. For full details please go to www.newwayproject.org/day-time-services
We work with a wide range of volunteers and partner agencies (including CGL, NHS Transitional Practice, BDCA Sports Project and BDCA Food Project) to help people overcome their housing problems and also address the other issues that hold them back.
Our current programme includes free access to: showers, laundry facilities, laptops, nutritious lunches, housing advocacy, debt/benefits advice, job search support, basic computer courses, healthy cooking workshops, gardening and signposting.
We are extremely grateful to Newham Council and Lloyds Bank Invest for providing us with the funding we need to keep this much needed project open.
