Volunteer Neighbourhood Shoppers
CAN YOU HELP?
Many in our community are now in vulnerable households, shielding or in self-isolation. This means that without the support of friends, family or neighbours they are unable to get their shopping and basic essentials.
BDCA is looking to recruit a team of Neighbourhood Shoppers.
As a long standing and reputable local charity we will connect you with those in the community who need help getting their shopping.
WHO WE NEED:
Do you live in East Ham?
Are you fit, healthy, and able to manage to go to local shops and supermarkets? Are you friendly, honest and trustworthy? Are you not on the Barred List? Can you provide references as to your character, and suitability to this role?
Do you have access to a car? (Not essential, but it is desirable)
Are you willing and able to pay for the shopping out of your own funds, and be reimbursed by bank transfer from BDCA?
Do you have up to 2 hours a week to volunteer?
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Every week you will be given a basics shopping list, and connected to a local person who needs your help.
You will be required to shop for them and deliver the food safely to their doorstep.
You will need to keep copies of receipts and ensure that the money is spent properly and fully accounted for.
You will complete an expenses claim form and will receive reimbursement by bank transfer from BDCA.
