Poverty Response Project
BDCA launched a new Poverty Response Project in Spring 2013 in order to support people in our community who are struggling with unemployment, homelessness, in work poverty, food poverty and debt.
We partner with local organisations including: Newham Foodbank, Bonny Downs Baptist Church, Skills Enterprise and the NEWway Project to deliver free services to help people move forward out of poverty. Our current support services include:
‘New Day Project’ day centre for homeless and vulnerably housed adults which offers: job search support, life skills courses, showers, laundry facilities, advocacy and signposting. To book a slot for advice and support, showers or laundry, please use the online booking system here.
· 'Growing Strong project' led by BDCA'S Children and Families Team also provides local children and young people who are at risk of hunger with a package of support, including greater access to healthy food, safe places to play, donated clothes/equipment/ toys and educational support.
