Play Group Volunteer
Our play drop-in sessions help build community, support struggling parents and allow little ones to thrive and learn. We need volunteers for our 'Tots Haven' Mondays 9 am -12 pm and our Parents Yoga Thursdays 9:30 am - 10:30 am at The Well. Please note that a DBS check will be necessary for this role. There may be opportunities to gain a food safety certificate.
Volunteer Cook for Homeless Day Centre
Our day centre provides warm food to the homeless. We are looking for a volunteer to provide cooked or ready make lunch and serve to the guests. If you can cook a variety of food on a budget, know how to keep kitchen area tidy and really want to make a difference to those in need then please apply! This role is for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am to 1:00 pm at our partner's, The Salvation Army, in East Ham.
Community Cafe Volunteer
Gems Delights is looking for kitchen volunteers to work alongside friendly and experienced catering Manager Gemmia to help provide warm, hearty meals and a heart-warming atmosphere for local customers.
We need you from 10 am - 2 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Learn how to cook authentic African/Caribbean cuisine, build up your work experience and help feed elders and other vulnerable residents who rely on the cafe as a "haven from loneliness".
We are looking for people from a broad range of backgrounds to help lead and steer the organisation. No previous trustee experience is necessary, as a full induction will be given. We are particularly looking for people with expertise in: campaigning, PR, social media, fundraising, income generation, property development and safeguarding. Click here for full details.
Outdoor Classroom Volunteer
Do you have a passion for gardening and teaching children about nature? Our Community Garden team are looking for committed volunteers for educational workshops. No previous experience is required as training and support will be provided. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach urban children about nature while building up your own skills and having fun leading activities like minibeast hunts, outdoor games, natural crafts and educational stories.
Food Collection Volunteer Drivers
We partner with Greggs, Tesco, Nandos and several other businesses to collect surplus food that would otherwise be wasted and use it to feed local people in need at our foodbank and homeless day centre. We urgently need more drivers to help us collect the food donations - particularly from stalls in the Queen's Market in Green Street on Tuesday evenings.
Elders Project Volunteer
Our Elders team support over 400 older people a week to "add years to life and life to years". Could you help them by setting up chairs and tables for our elders activities from 9 am on Tuesdays?
Photography Volunteer BDCA run a wonderful range of events, activities and services throughout the year so we need help to capture more evidence and images to use in our publicity materials.
After School Club Volunteer
BDCA provide a high quality low cost childcare service on weekdays for primary school aged children. If you have a passion for working with children and want to get some experience in the childcare setting then get in touch! Please note that this role requires applicants to complete a DBS check.
Minibus Volunteer Driver
We have a brand new minibus and are looking for a volunteer driver who can drop off and pick up our service users to locations.
Support our gardening project on Fridays and Saturdays 9:30 am - 1 pm by encouraging members of the public to explore and learn from the natural environment, leading activities like seed sowing, planting and maintaining plants.
